Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a Newborn Care Specialist?
A Newborn Care Specialist, or NCS, is an experienced individual, educated and trained specifically to care for newborns. An NCS provides in-home assistance and support for the entire family while adjustments are being made for the new baby/babies. With guidance from an NCS, the family will be able to develop healthy routines for the baby that will benefit both child and parents for the future. Most Newborn Care Specialists will provide sleep training services to ensure the baby, along with the family, are getting the proper amount of sleep needed. The support and reassurance of an NCS is a benefit for nursing moms and tired parents.
What are the main responsibilities of an NCS?
The main goal of an NCS is educating the family on ‘all things newborn,’ while establishing good routines for both baby and family. The end goal is always to have a happy, rested, and knowledgeable family that feels confident!
What are typical NCS duties?
These include feeding, dressing, bathing, baby laundry, diaper changing, bottle preparation, bottle cleaning and sterilization, maintaining accurate logs, providing goals for developmental milestones, establishing healthy sleep habits, organizing and maintaining nursery and supplies, suggesting workable daily routines, and educating parents about infant care.
What age range is "newborn"?
An NCS will typically work with a child from birth through 3 months, although it is also common for an NCS to work with children outside of that range to help with sleep training or daily routines.
